Students will be studying imperialism in this unit. They will identify because of the Industrial Revolution it became necessary for countries to go outside their borders to obtain natural resources needed for the creation of goods. Students will also exam the social, political and economic effects imperialism had on the colonizers and the colonized. Students will develop an understanding as to how competition for resources created tensions between the imperial powers and how it ultimately leads to World War I. Students will also examine the effects of imperialism on the present day.
